A guy by the name of Brad found the www.privateernation.org site and e-mailed me for more info. I set up a time to call him and today at 6 pm we hit it. I called exactly on time. I love doing that because it lets people know I’m dead serious about what I’m doing and that I respect their time. I expect to be called exactly on time and when I’m not I wonder what that person is up to in life.

Anyway, for the next hour I shared all about the Privateer Nation with Brad. I had so much fun. I’m living my dream. When I was 23 years old, broke, crashed on the floor of a run down apartment building I read the book LOSING MY VIRGINITY by Richard Branson. In the book he asks the question, “If you knew you couldn’t fail, that you were guaranteed success, what would you do?” I wrote and wrote and wrote some more. Finally, I came up with the statement, “All I want to do is talk to people about their dreams all day and help the serious ones make them happen.” I wrote that when I was 23 years old. I’m not 31 years old. It took 8 years but I’m truly living my dream. This is the way it is supposed to be. I’m truly having fun and enjoying the journey. This is a first. There is nothing in the world I’d have rather done at 6 pm Pacific Standard Time today then spend that hour on the phone with Brad talking about his dreams and how the Privateer Nation could help him make them happen. It just keeps getting better!

5 Tips for E-mailing Busy People

Even after outsourcing my e-mail to a virtual assistant, there are still a few messages that come over the transom.

Since the success of the book, I’ve been able to see some of the worst e-mail pitches out there. Here is an example of how to do it properly, with 5 tips and good template phrases bolded:

Hi Tim,

I hope all is well (and I gather from your celebrity that it is—I can’t seem to go a week without seeing your book or name somewhere).

I know you place tremendous value on your time so I’ll be brief. The website I launched last fall (www.SmartRaise.com) has evolved into a much more far-reaching venture: a software company that provides fundraising optimization and online advocacy solutions for nonprofits. I’m raising $500-750k for the business, called Donor Loyalty Corp, and have a meaningful percentage of that already committed from various Angel investors.

Naturally, I’m courting a number of prospective Angels from my personal network to hopefully fill out the rest of the round. However, I was curious if your experience has taught you any lessons about identifying seed-stage investors and, more specifically, if you’ve come to know any Princeton Alums or other individuals who have an appetite for deals like these. I’ve attached my fundraising deck for some context.

I understand if you’re too busy to answer in depth or would prefer not to discuss the topic given our limited interactions in the past. However, if the professor in you has any pearls of wisdom or specific thoughts, they would be greatly appreciated.

Here are a few notes on this e-mail and what makes it more likely to get a response:

1. It’s short and what he’s requesting is clear. No “let’s jump on the phone for 10 minutes; it’ll be worth your time.”

2. He made an impression in our initial meeting, and he hasn’t irritated me with zero-content “keeping in touch” e-mails. He hasn’t worn out his inbox welcome.

3. He makes it clear that he’s doing his part and has explored other avenues before asking for my help. It’s amazing how many would-be mentees or beneficiaries ask busier people for answers Google could provide in 20 seconds. That puts you on the banned list. Explicitly state what you’ve done to get answers or help yourself.

4. He used the executive recruiter referral trick. Seldom will a headhunter call a gainfully employed CXO-level executive and ask them to take another position. They’ll instead ask the exec if they know anyone who might be interested in position X. The intention is clear (might you consider this job over your current employer?), but it gives the executive a comfortable decline option.

5. He makes it clear that it’s OK if I can’t help or if I’m too committed elsewhere. This — paradoxically — makes it much more likely he’ll get a response, which he did.

The above 5 tenets should be considered for any e-mail to someone who probably deletes more e-mail in a day than you read in a week. If they appear in media regularly, assume that you are competing against at least 100 similar requests.

E-mail is like food. Good recipes produce good results, but you need to follow the proper steps.

And Just Like That She Said, “Yes!”

I got on the phone with a prospect today at 3:15 pm. I spent an hour talking to her about how the peer coaching system I’ve built into the Privateer Nation could help her get rich in the profession of her choice, travel the planet with fun people and allow her to make a massive difference in the world. At the end of the conversation she said, “Everything we talked about is what I’m all about. Yes, I’m in!”

It’s hard to describe how I feel right now. I came up with the basic concept for what is now called the Privateer Nation in Spring of 2002. I didn’t start to seriously develop it until October of 2004. For the last 3 years and a handful of months all I’ve thought about is building an organization of people who are serious about getting rich, traveling the planet and changing the world. A lot of times I wondered if I was delusional? Was anyone going to “get it”? Was anyone going to believe that my idea could really help them get where they wanted to go? Was anyone going to believe I had what it took to pull it off? Now I know the answer is, “Yes.”

My God… it’s finally begun…. my 13 year gamble on living a workaholic life is finally going to get me where I’ve always wanted to go =)

Stephen Martile On T. Harv Ecker’s Millionaire Mind Intensive Jar Accounting System

The jars system is an easy and simple way to manage your money. In the beginning I resisted this system. Eventually I gave in and began to see the financial rewards first hand. In my last post I shared some of the benefits of using the JARS to manage money. In this post I’ll cover my experience on how the jars work.

Why Physical JARS?

I’ve had a few people ask me why I have the physical jars sitting on my desk. Some have asked, “Steve, do you actually put money in those jars?” The answer is, ‘it depends’. Let’s explore the question in more detail.

Currently, I have setup the jars electronically so that all transactions are completed automatically on a monthly basis. Most of the work is done online. From this stand point you might think that there is no need for the jars. One of the reasons I have the jars on my desk is because they help me build the habit of managing extra money. Keep in mind that visual is memorable. The jars are a physical reminder of where my money is going.

Sometimes I run into extra cash or happen to find change in my pocket when I get home from work. When this happens I place the cash into one of the jars. Most times I’ll place the money into the FFA jar -the jar used to build our nest egg.

The physical action of placing the money into the jar is important. Once I place the money into the jar it gets me thinking about ways to use that money. For instance, when I place money into my FFA jar it triggers my sub-conscious to find ways to invest. The action of putting the money in the jar is like planting a seed. Once the seed is planted my mind works on creative ways to invest.

Sometimes I’ll place my extra money into the PLAY jar. Similarily, this will trigger my thought process to find ways to spend money on play. It’s like a game. Every time I put money into one of the jars my mind starts working to find ways to spend that money. This process is a great way to build your money managing habit.

Unfortunately, most people don’t use a system like this and they tend to always be in debt. One of the reasons they’re always in debt is because they use their extra money to pay their debt. If you’re consistently using extra money to pay your debt then you’re teaching yourself that habit - to pay debt.

The more you do it, the better you get at it. Eventually this habit becomes ingrained in you and it happens unconsciously. This habit can also lead to a poverty consciousness. The more times you pay your debt, the more you think about it. The more you think about it, the more you feel it. This will attract more debt. The way to move away from debt and into prosperity is to setup an automatic debt payment program and read my article, Focus On Prosperity.

The JARS

As a recap, here are the jars and a short description of each one.

> Necessity Account (NEC - 55%): This account is for managing your everyday expenses and bills. This would include things like your rent, mortgage, utilities, bills, taxes, food, clothes, etc. Basically it includes anything that you need to live, the necessities.

> Financial Freedom Account (FFA - 10%): This is your golden goose. This jar is your ticket to financial freedom. The money that you put into this jar is used for investments and building your passive income streams. You never spend this money. The only time you would spend this money is once you become financially free. Even then you would only spend the returns on your investment. Never spend the principal or else you’ll go broke!

> Education Account (EDU - 10%): Money in this jar is meant to further your education and personal growth. An investment in yourself is a great way to use your money. You are your most valuable asset. Never forget this. I have used education money to purchase books, CD’s, courses or anything else that has educational value.

> Long Term Saving for Spending Account (LTSS - 10%): The money in this jar is for the bigger nice to have purchases. As I said in my last post, Trisha and I are going to Whistler, BC in January 2008. The only reason we’ve been able to make this happen is because we’ve accumulated a nice sum in our LTSS. A small monthly contribution goes a long way.

> Play Account (PLAY - 10%): This is my favorite account. PLAY money is spent every month on purchases you wouldn’t normally make. The purpose of this jar is to nurture yourself. You could purchase an expensive bottle of wine at dinner, get a massage or go on a weekend getaway. Play can be anything your heart desires. I’ve spent my play money on a night of sake and sushi at a Japanese restaurant; hockey equipment that I didn’t really NEED but wanted; a night out on the town with a limo, champagne, etc.

> Give Account (GIVE - 5%): The money in this account is for giving away. Trisha and I give money every month to the Sick Kids Hospital Foundation. We also use the money in this jar to give to family and friends on birthdays, special occasions and holidays. You can also give away your time as opposed to giving away money. You could house sit for a neighbor, take a friends dog for a walk or volunteer in your community. When you give your money or time you’re sending a sign of abundance to the Universe. You’re telling the Universe that you have plenty of everything, you’re abundant. Giving signals abundance. This will magnetically attract more abundance to you.

How the JARS Work

Here is a sketch of how we use the jars. Trisha and I deposit all of our personal income into a necessity account. In our case it’s our checking account. The money in our necessity account pays for all of our expenses. The remaining money is distributed into 5 other accounts. See the sketch below.

I learned very early in the process that the jar percentages are not critical. To guarantee your financial success just start using the jars and build the habit. This is key. It doesn’t have to be perfect when you start. You could even start by splitting $10 every month into the jars. There is an inspiring story in ‘The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind’ about a woman who started splitting $1 into the jars every month. In her first month she put 10 cents into her play account, 10 cents into her FFA, 10 cents into her LTSS and so on. Later that month she used her play money to buy a piece of bumble gum. She received a mini comic with the bubble gum package that she bought with her play. She read the comic and got a laugh. Two years later she deposited a $10,000 dollar check into her FFA account. Now who’s laughing?

If she can do it then so can you.

I highly recommend the JARS system to anyone who wants to make the most out of their money. If you’re looking for a simple way to make more on what you already have then use this system.

One great method for taking an expenses-paid “mini-retirement”—or adding more time to your travels without adding costs—is to work with an international volunteer organization.

Some volunteer groups charge a participation fee, but there are some that will cover your food, housing—and provide you with good meaningful work—at no cost. I would like to share with you a few stories from friends who have all taken mini-retirements with Hands On Disaster Response, one such group.

A Little Back Story

Breakdowns of any sort can be great experiences: nervous, communication, etc. They allow us to return to center and to refocus on what it is that truly matters. For Tim, it was a one-way ticket to London in June 2004.

My breakdown came just a few months later and took me to Thailand to find anyone or any place I could help recover from the Tsunami that had just destroyed tens of thousands of homes and lives. I had been living in L.A. working as a freelance designer, treading water and occasionally getting mouthfuls of it, and my adventure to Thailand was a conscious decision to give up treading and to dive down deeper to explore just what was around me…
What was meant to be a one-month trip to volunteer and travel turned into 5 months in Southern Thailand and, ultimately, an international relief organization. It is from this organization that the stories come from below:

I first connected with HODR in Biloxi Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. I was originally volunteering with another group but was looking for something more hands-on, and came upon Hands On a few towns away from where I was working. I arrived at 7:30am and was out cutting trees by 8am; it was love at first sight. I just returned from my 4th project with Hands On and, in spite of the disaster it will imply, I look forward to the next time.

Travel a lot of the time has to do with funds, how much money there is available to sustain one’s traveling habit. HODR helps me travel longer with less funds, allowing me to experience so many amazing moments…

In the Philippines “The realization that if we weren’t there, no one else would be.” In Biloxi “The moment when I realized the streets were clean, things were in piles, our efforts were making some difference.” In Bangladesh “Taking a boat 22 hours down a river, being the only white and English-speaking person on that boat, and being dropped off at a dock at the edge of a jungle.” In Peru “The night we went around the campfire and asked where people were from and there were volunteers from over 30 countries present.” In Bangladesh: “I gave a little boy some colored pencils and he burst into tears and hugged my legs.”

When I am not chasing HODR around the globe I am a full time Visual Journalism student in Ventura, Calif.

After the Tsunami in 2004, I was looking on the internet for any aid group that was accepting volunteers and that didn’t make it almost impossible to sign up. Hands On was the most impressive and human organization. No applications, no fees, no interviews. Just show up and get to work. It takes a special kind of person to travel to the far ends of the earth to work your butt off with complete strangers, I guess that weeds out the whackjobs. Well, the bad ones… I plan to graduate from Brooks in 2 years and when I do, plan to spend at least the next 5 years disaster hopping with HODR. There is nothing like free life experience!

I arrived in Thailand with a ticket home in 3 weeks. I left 4 months later. I went to Biloxi for just one week. A week after my return home I raised money and roadtripped from L.A. back to Biloxi with my roommate. All other trips I have changed and extended my trips at least by a few hours. With an experience that is human and real, it is almost impossible to tear yourself away, no matter what the living conditions might be or where in the world you are.

The first time, on my first deployment, that I saw a tear on the eye of a woman who just told me we were the answer to her prayers it really hit me. I’m not a religious man, but to realize you might be the answer to someone’s prayers is a powerful thing.

Also, although there is an ever-growing group of volunteers I have worked with before and now consider family, the experience of meeting complete strangers one week and not remembering your life without them a week later is an intense and amazing experience.

While in Bangladesh the bus system shut down for a morning because the driver had been bitten by an unruly passenger. Also, in the Philippines and Bangladesh, taking breaks with sweaty, dirty volunteers to have tea. I mean, there are so many funny and memorable moments with Hands On and there is no way to explain them. They wouldn’t’t seem funny to anyone else. You really have to be there.

I make money by helping my bros run a Christmas Light company in LA (Sept thru Jan).

I first got hooked up with HODR when I canceled a 9 month trip to Italy to work with then Hands On Thailand after the Asian Tsunami in 2005.

At the time most of the resources Hands On received went directly to the effort, but for some of the longer term workers, deals were struck for discounted accommodation and meals. In part by being in deserted towns (towns often are after disasters) and by receiving aid fromHODR, I was able to comfortably stay in Thailand for just over 4 months.

I have had the opportunity to explore a fair amount of the world considering my slightly unripened age of 25, but nothing I have done or seen even comes close to my experience with the fellow volunteers of HODR. It truly is the most rewarding form of traveling, giving its patrons the opportunity to meet the best of peoples, help others in the worst of times, and leave a village or town better off then when you arrived. I will never forget my time with HODR in Thailand and I look forward to many more opportunities to travel and volunteer with HODR.

Perhaps the single best day of my life occurred while working with HODR on Phi Phi island when a close group of 5 volunteers (Michael, Sunisa, Lizzy) took a day trip to the uninhabited bamboo island for the night. We brought with us some beer, bread, nutella, and a celebration bottle of champagne. Not having enough food for the night, we found dozens of crabs on the beach and chose to grub on them rather than not eat that night. We fell asleep after an amazing sunset and woke up to an even better sunrise. Talk about paradise!

Volunteering Mini-Retirements

If you can afford the travel costs to a HODR project, then all but beer money or personal expenses are covered. We have had hundreds of volunteers extend their travels aboard because they were able to stay with us for another week or month and not increase their costs dramatically. Burners Without Borders

Following the 2005 Burning Man event, several participants headed south into the Hurricane Katrina disaster area to help people rebuild their devastated communities. After several months of working along the Gulf Coast,BWB has set up a project in Pisco, Peru to assist with earthquake relief work.

Project HOPE

Nearly 50 years ago, Project HOPE was founded on the willingness of doctors, nurses and other medical volunteers to travel the globe on a floating hospital ship, the SS HOPE, to provide medical care, health education and humanitarian assistance to people in need. While we now operate land-based programs in more than 35 countries, Project HOPE has again returned to sending medical volunteers on board ships around the world to provide medical assistance, long reaching health education programs, vaccinations and humanitarian assistance.

International Relief Teams

International Relief Teams mobilizes volunteers and distributes medical supplies to support the organization’s four missions: 1) domestic and international disaster relief, 2) medical education and training, 3) surgical and clinical outreach, and 4) public health. Since 1988, IRT has provided more than $5.6 million in volunteer services, and more than $112 million in medicines and supplies to families in desperate need in 42 countries worldwide.

Relief International

Us and Them by David Berreby

I picked up a book today called US and THEM by David Berreby. The tag line of the book is Understanding Your Tribal Mind.

My first experience with “thinking tribal” (tribal thinking is when you think of yourself as belonging to 1 kind of people and everyone else as belonging to another kind of people who are less) was years ago after listening to an audio series by Jerry Clark called MURPHY’S COMMITTEE. Listening to this audio series caused me to seek out and read Scott Alexander’s books RHINOCEROS SUCCESS, ADVANCED RHINOCEROLOGY, and RHINOCEROTIC RELATIVITY. The audio series Murphy’s Committee by Jerry Clark and the books Rhinoceros Success, Advanced Rhinocerology and Rhinocerotic Relativity all put forth the idea that there are 2 kinds of people in the world. The first group are Rhinos. These kind of people charge through the jungles of life having fun, making money and living their dreams. The second group of people are Cows. These kind of people seek safety, make great employees and live dull boring lives like the cattle in the fields.

I was seriously hurting when I listened to Murphy’s Committee by Jerry Clark and read Scott Alexander’s books RHINOCEROS SUCCESS, ADVANCED RHINOCEROLOGY, and RHINOCEROTICRELATIVITY. I was running my first real world business (I owned a business in high school) and the cows of the world were beating on me every chance they got. I’d dropped out of college to start this business. I expected my family to be behind me but they were not. Every time my family got together I got to hear the question, “When are you going to stop wasting your life and go back to college?” Or I’d be asked, “When are you going to get a real job?” I wasn’t doing well in my business and that made the questions sting even more. In time those questions become my “Mad Dog Questions.” What’s a mad dog question? It’s a question you ask a person that causes them to go from zero to violent in 1 second. I nearly lost it on my mother one day after she asked me for the millionth time, “When are you going to go back to college?” I had to walk out of the room. I was so tired of my dreams being attacked. I’d hit my breaking point. Thankfully I walked out of the room to cool down but it took everything I had to do that. If it had been a male relative of mine I’d have joyously beaten him within an inch of his life. I had so much rage inside me from being attacked all the time for heading down the road-less-traveled.

It was around the time that I nearly lost it on my mom that I listened to Murphy’s Committee by Jerry Clark and read Scott Alexander’s books RHINOCEROS SUCCESS, ADVANCED RHINOCEROLOGY, and RHINOCEROTICRELATIVITY. Jerry Clark’s audio Murphy’s Committee and Scott Alexander’s books RHINOCEROS SUCCESS, ADVANCED RHINOCEROLOGY, and RHINOCEROTICRELATIVITY changed my life and likely saved my dreams. That was the good part. And I’ll be forever grateful to those two men. From that point on every time someone started bagging on me I simply thought, “What a pathetic cow.” Their opinion of me and what I was doing no longer mattered. I knew they were never going to do anything great with their lives and so like all cows do they tried to bring down the people who were out there trying. The bad part was it caused me to look at everyone who was employed as worthless cattle. Looking down on people is dangerous. You stop seeing them as people. Worse you stop treating them as if they are even human. I became a serious a-hole rhino. It took me years to get to the point where I didn’t look down on people who were employees.

Looking back I’ve never been able to determine if I could have stayed on the road-less-traveled with out Murphy’s Committee by Jerry Clark and Scott Alexander’s books RHINOCEROS SUCCESS, ADVANCED RHINOCEROLOGY, and RHINOCEROTICRELATIVITY. I needed a way to protect my dreams and these men gave it to me. However it was so damaging (as all tribal thinking is in my opinion). Suddenly everyone was either a rhino or a cow. I went out of my way to help rhinos and I also went out of my way to brutally stomp on cows. As I mentioned it took me almost a decade to start looking at everyone as people again. I was able to do this (start thinking of people as just people) because just like Jerry Clark said in the Murphy’s Committee and Scott Alexander said in the books RHINOCEROS SUCCESS, ADVANCED RHINOCEROLOGY, and RHINOCEROTICRELATIVITY my skin became “spear and arrow proof.” My rhino skin became so tough that no insult (insults were referred to as spears and arrows in the audio and book series) could hurt me anymore. Maybe one day I’ll be able to answer that question…

Alright so going back to the original reason I started this post which was to discuss the things I’d learned in the book Us and Them by David Berreby. The first thing of interest I found was a study done at New York University that uncovered the fact that people’s altruistic impulses are quite sensitive to subtler differences in their experience. One group of people was asked questions about comic-book superheroes. The other group of people were asked specific questions about Superman. Later when the different groups were asked to volunteer for community service the group that has been asked questions about superheroes in general signed up to give more time than the people who were asked questions about Superman. Why? It seems that thinking about an amazing person apparently made people feel like they could not measure up. However when asked to think about people who are altruistic and good they wanted to act a bit a more like those people themselves.

This is a huge lesson for me. I’m going to make sure that the stories I use to build the culture of the Privateer Nation are about privateers in history who helped other people. I want the Privateer Nation to be made up of people who live by the Golden Rule (do unto others as you’d have done unto you).

The next study I read about was one of the most famous studies for proving that circumstances change behavior. It was conducted at Stanford University in the 1970’s. The psychologist Philip Zimbardo and his colleagues divided a group of male college students into “guards” and “prisoners” in a simulated jail. In less than a week, the men changed their behavior to fit their categories (us vs them tribal thinking). The “prisoners” sank into despair and helpless rage. The “guards” looked down (this is the serious danger of tribal thinking) on their former fellow-students clothed in prison uniforms and a third of the guards actually abused them.

This is another huge lesson for me. One that I’ve already learned. I use to promote the domain names www.employeesareslaves.com, www.sillycorporatemonkey.com, and www.fuckcorporatelife.com. I stopped doing this because I did not want to promote a “cow vs rhino” philosophy. My target market for the Privateer Nation are aspiring entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs and non-traditional entrepreneurs (musicians, actors, writers, comics etc). However I decided to make the Privateer Nation open to anyone who is willing to face their fears so they can have fun getting rich, traveling the planet and changing the world. I did NOT want to create a nation of entrepreneurs who looked down on their employees. And I knew the only way to do this was to take out the words “seeking entrepreneurs” and replace it with the words “seeking people who are willing to face their fears in order to have fun getting rich, traveling the planet and changing the world.” We will not likely attract a lot of employees but I never want people who are employees to be looked down upon.

The third lesson I learned (and this is super cool) is something that I’ve believed all along. You can NOT categorize people by race, language or education. For example you can’t assume that all white people do something just because they are white. Or that all educated people will act in a certain way because they are educated. If you must categorize people then categorize them based on their beliefs (the way they think).

I love this because it confirms my belief that the only war worth fighting and winning is the war of ideas. People act the way they do because of their environment. No one is good or bad. The enviroment they are in determines the beliefs they adopt and the way they in turn behave. This means that the Privateer Nation will be able to have a massive effect on humanity as it grows. One day we will be a nation of millions of people who BELIEVE in getting rich the right way, BELIEVE in traveling the planet for fun and understanding and BELIEVE in making a difference for others and leaving a legacy that continues to make a difference when we are gone. Who knows how great an impact a million or more winners who hold these beliefs can have on the world?

And The Kid Smashed The Brick Into The Brand New Jag

A friend of mine sent me this and I decided to share it with you….

A young and very successful executive named Josh was traveling down a Chicago neighborhood street. He was going a bit too fast in his sleek, black, 12 cylinder Jaguar XKE, which was only two months old.
He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars, as his car passed, no child darted out, but a brick sailed out and - WHUMP! - it smashed Into the Jag’s shiny black side door! SCREECH..!!!! Brakes slammed! Gears ground into reverse, and tires spun the Jaguar back to the spot from where the brick had been thrown. Josh jumped out of the car, grabbed the kid and pushed him up against a parked car. He shouted at the kid, “What was that all about and who are you? “That’s my new Jag, that brick you threw is gonna cost you a lot of money. Why did you throw it?”

“Please, mister, please… I’m sorry! I didn’t know what else to do!”, pleaded the youngster. “I threw the brick because no one else would stop!” Tears were dripping down the boy’s chin as he pointed around the parked car. “It’s my brother, mister,” he said. “He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can’t lift him up.” Sobbing, the boy asked the executive, “Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He’s hurt and he’s too heavy for me.”

Moved beyond words, the young executive tried desperately to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. Straining, he lifted the young man back into the wheelchair and took out his handkerchief and wiped the scrapes and cuts, checking to see that everything was going to be OK. He then watched the younger brother push him down the sidewalk toward their home.

Josh never did fix the side door of his Jaguar. He kept the dent to remind him not to go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at him to get his attention.

Once you get into your fully relaxed meditation mode, imagine you are driving your perfect car of the future. Feel the wheel, smell the new car interior, and hear the brick hit the side. As you get out, your non conscious mind will place the person who is trying to get your attention right now. The one that you may not have noticed until now because you are driving too fast through life. In your meditation, stop and take time to make a difference in their life . Then consider it in life too.

The First Post

At long last the Privateer Nation blog is done. From this point forward I'll be recording the journey of the Privateer Nation that I officially launched on Saint Patrick's Day 2008 at Sierra Summit Snowboarding Resort in California with my best friend Patrick Eaves.

As of this writing a lot of changes are happening. I pulled the skull from the main Privateer Nation logo and put it in the fear section where it belongs. I solidified the Privateer Nation vision to include both building a nation and going into space. I agreed to a much softer version of our policy of not talking about religion or politics. And I'm one week away from starting the first 12 week trial run for the first Privateer Nation krewe which includes Fiona, Melissa and Serina.

It will be super exciting to see where we are 1 year from today which is June 22, 2008 11:48 am. I expect to be running the Privateer Nation full time, to have at least 3 Krewe Captain building Privateer Nation krewes and have put together an awesome board of directors to help me turn the Privateer Nation into a global nation that helps its citizens get rich, travel the planet and change the world.

I've got to take off to my day job soon (this will be 1 thing that is gone 1 year from today) but I wanted to take a brief minute to thank Aaron Potts of www.personaldevelopmentpartners.com, http://www.todayisthatday.com/blog/, and http://www.fitnessdestinations.com/ for putting together this blog. Aaron you did an amazing job at an amazing price. The blog looks incredible! Thanks for making this project something that I can be proud of!
